C Wendell Carter, Orlando Magic at Boston Celtics, $4,300
Goga Bitadze (concussion) is set to miss his second straight contest on Friday night, which should mean another start for Carter. The big man was one of few statistical bright spots for the Magic in their lopsided loss to the Bucks on Wednesday, registering a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double and playing a team-high 32.6 minutes. Carter also left some meat on the bone in that performance, shooting a paltry 3-for-12 (25.0%) from the field. Still, he’d wind up 32.5 FPTS for his trouble. Despite that performance, Carter now finds his salary down $200 in the last 48 hours. I don’t it. You probably don’t get it, either. Yet I’ll happily bank the savings and use them elsewhere in my lineups.
C Drew Eubanks, Utah Jazz at New Orleans Pelicans, $4,100
There’s so many ways you could go with this tanking Jazz roster. If you needed a value at a guard or forward position, Isaiah Collier ($4,900) and Brice Sensabaugh ($4,800) are both viable at their price tags just below $5,000. However, Eubanks is probably the best dollar-for-dollar asset in the team’s rotation on Friday. In Utah’s narrow victory over Brooklyn on Sunday, Eubanks drew the start in place of the resting Walker Kessler. Well, Kessler is taking a seat on the pine once again this evening, so it stands to reason that Eubanks will be back in with the starters. In 31.2 minutes of action, the veteran center scored eight points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots, eventually putting up 27.75 FPTS. Eubanks would then follow that up with 29.5 FPTS in 20.2 minutes off the bench in Wednesday’s loss against Charlotte. The Pelicans are surrendering the fourth-most FPTS per game to opposing big men. This is a great matchup to exploit.
PG/SG Davion Mitchell, Toronto Raptors at Milwaukee Bucks, $3,800
Mitchell’s last two games are a pretty good microcosm of his NBA career. On Monday, he started against the Warriors and went scoreless. On Wednesday, he started against the Celtics and stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals. That was good for 27.0 FPTS. Minutes aren’t going to be the issue for Mitchell this evening, with Immanuel Quickley (groin) sidelined and Ochai Agbaji ($3,300; hand) questionable to suit up. No, the issue is the same as it always is: Consistency. That said, Mitchell has been at his best in 2024-25 when getting the opportunity to start. In his 16 games in the starting five, the former lottery pick is averaging 8.2 points and 5.8 assists. If Agbaji sits, he and Jamal Shead ($3,000) will essentially be the last two true guards in the Raptors rotation. One is going to have a big night and Mitchell is by far the safer choice.
