Only ten D-I men’s college basketball games tip off on Friday. However, there’s plenty of intrigue for hoops fans across the country. Among the highlights, a Big Ten showdown in Los Angeles between Iowa and UCLA stands out. To cap things off, Boise State and New Mexico meet for a crucial Mountain West Conference matchup. The only certainty on this slate is that we’re sure to see some spectacular individual performances. Here are my two favorite college basketball player props for tonight on DraftKings Sportsbook:
Thomas Sorber 3+ assists (-110)
Georgetown is back…sort of. The 12-5 Hoyas aren’t quite tournament-caliber, but head coach Ed Cooley has this program headed in the right direction. One of the biggest revelations this season has been center Thomas Sober. The freshman has averaged team-leading marks of 14.2 points and 8.6 rebounds through 17 games played.
Following a tough loss against St. John’s on Sunday, Georgetown will take on a DePaul team that’s currently 0-7 in Big East play. The Blue Demons struggle on defense, giving up the most points (74.1) and assists per game (14.9) of any school in the conference. Sorber isn’t known for his passing, but he’s certainly no slouch when it comes to distributing. The 19-year-old has hit this line in more than half of his appearances so far (9/17). Against a vulnerable opponent, there should be plenty of opportunity to spread the ball around.
Tyler Bilodeau 16+ points (-125)
After getting out to a terrific 10-1 start, UCLA had the look of a team that could thrive in March. However, four losses in five games have cast doubt over a once-promising season. Head coach Mick Cronin will look to turn things around on Friday in a Big Ten matchup with Iowa. In a battle between two polar opposites, finding the right player props can be a challenge. The Hawkeyes have scored the most points per game in the conference (89.5) while the Bruins have allowed the fewest (63.4).
With that being said, Iowa has held just two opponents to under 80 points this season. For that reason, I’m willing to bet that UCLA gets things going on offense. If anyone can step up, it’s Tyler Bilodeau; the forward has been terrific so far, putting up a team-leading 14.4 points on 48.9% shooting from the field. Bilodeau has gone over this total in 9 of 17 appearances this season, including three different 20-point outings. The Bruins should make a concerted effort to get their most talented scorer the ball in this one.
