Asking anyone to get five blocks on any given night is a difficult task, but it’s a regular occurrence for Wembanyama.
The second-year star is averaging a league-high 4.0 blocks per game, surpassing his league-leading 3.6 from last season. His average is below the prop line bet which is why bettors can get plus value on this tonight.
Wembanyama has hit at least five blocks in nine of 34 games this season, including his eight-block performance against the Grizzlies on Wednesday. It’s a bit far-fetched to believe he can duplicate his eight blocks tonight, but five is more reasonable.
The Grizzlies are second in the NBA in points in the paint, so there should be plenty of block opportunities for Wembanyama. Memphis will likely challenge Wembanyama in the paint numerous times tonight, just like it did on Wednesday.
Some bettors may look for Wembanyama’s 4+ blocks prop bet instead. It’s less risky but it’s valued at -180. It’s not enough to downgrade from over 4.5 blocks, especially since Wembanyama has hit the 4+ mark in just 13 of 34 games. In nine of those 13 games, he cleared five blocks, too.
