In his 18th season, Durant deserves to get some serious props for the way his game has aged and survived serious injuries. His Suns currently sit at 19-19 and are mired in a battle of attrition for a play-in spot in the West.
Individually, Durant’s been cruising this season, sleepwalking his way to 27.1 PPG, 6.4 RPG, and 4.2 APG on his customary efficiency. He’s putting up 52/39/85 splits.
Tonight he’ll face off against the Atlanta Hawks, who will be without breakout star Jalen Johnson, who is their second highest-rated defender. Without Johnson, the Hawks have -11.7 net rating.

PTS 27.5 (Over -115 / Under -115): As consistent as they come, Durant’s O/U line for tonight is a shade over his season average. Given the quality of defense he’ll have to contend against tonight, I think going Over here is prudent. In his last five games, Durant’s averaged 24.8 PPG, which includes one 23 point outing against the Hawks and two contests against the turnstile Hornets.
Even though he is capable of it, he’s never been one to chuck shots aimlessly. He’s patient with his scoring and knows that he can effortlessly get to his spots whenever he wants and shoot over anybody he wants. As a result, we rarely see Durant exploding for big quarters; he’s more of a slow trickle that cumulates to his 27 PPG by the end of the game. The Hawks are a competent offense this season and should be able to keep this game close, especially without Jusuf Nurkic in the mix. If KD wants to get his Suns into the playoffs, he’ll need to make sure their offense is humming at all times.
