Tyler Higbee ($3,400) was sent to the hospital during Monday’s Wild Card win over the Vikings because he was coughing up blood, but the tight end has been discharged and is expected to play this Sunday vs. the Eagles, per Rams’ HC Sean McVay.
Before exiting Monday’s game, Higbee was on a roll, catching all five of his targets 58 yards, resulting in 10.8 FPTS. While his game was cut short due to the injury scare, Higbee was targeted on an eye popping 50% of his routes. After missing the first 14 games of the season with a knee injury, Higbee just made his season debut in Week 16 and If he didn’t exit Monday’s contest early, he likely would have seen a full complement of snaps, which should be the case in this Sunday’s win-or-go home Divisional Round matchup with the Eagles.
While it’s a limited sample of only 70 snaps, Tyler Higbee has produced 0.46 FPTS per snap and he has been targeted on 38% of his routes this season, both of which are truly elite numbers. Plus, Higbee has racked up five red zone targets in his limited amount of work.
The problem is, this Sunday’s matchup vs. the Eagles is terrible. Philadelphia is giving up the fewest yards per pass in the NFL by a wide margin (5.5) and they are yielding the fewest receiving yards to tight ends this season (591). That being said, the Rams clearly view Higbee as one of their main weapons when he is healthy and his $3,400 salary on DraftKings is far too low for his usage and production.
While his upside may be somewhat limited against the Eagles’ stout defense, a double-digit FPTS outing is certainly possible for Higbee, especially with the Rams likely to be throwing it a ton as six-point underdogs on the DraftKings Sportsbook. That would be a strong return relative to his cheap DFS price tag and Tyler Higbee is an appealing punt play to consider for the Divisional Round, particularly as a bring back option for Eagles stacks.
