A seven-game, fourteen-team slate is on tap for basketball fans tonight. Among the matchups to watch, the Cavaliers will look to avenge their first loss in over a month when they take on the Pacers for the second time in three days. With several big names suiting up, there’s plenty of ways to get in on the action with DraftKings NBA Pick6 selections ahead of Tuesday’s matchups!
Devin Booker more than 7.5 assists
Although the Suns picked up point guard Tyus Jones this offseason, Devin Booker still operates as the team’s leading play maker. That level of passing skill often goes underrated, as opposing defenses are more worried about the sharpshooter’s scoring ability. This season, the four-time All-Star has dished out a team-leading 6.9 assists per game.
Over his last five appearances, Booker has produced 8.8 dimes; that number could go up even further after tonight’s matchup with the Hawks. Atlanta’s defense leaves much to be desired, allowing the fifth-most points (118.8) and the third-most assists (28.8) to opponents this season. In a contest that could see plenty of points, Phoenix’s top guard could flirt with a double-double.
Kelly Oubre Jr. more than 6.5 rebounds
To absolutely no one’s surprise, Joel Embiid (foot) is out for yet another game. In the big man’s absence, the 76ers will need plenty of role players to step up on the glass. That includes Kelly Oubre Jr.; despite being listed as a small forward, the 6’8″ wing is one of Philadelphia’s top rebounders. Through 34 games played, he’s averaged 5.8 boards.
If there’s any weakness for the Thunder, it’s a lack of size. This season, Oklahoma City has given up 55.9 rebounds to opponents, second-worst in the NBA. Over his last seven appearances without Embiid, Oubre Jr. has recorded 7.1 rebounds. Without a seven-footer on his own team to compete with, the ten-year veteran should go over this total tonight.
Keegan Murray more than 11.5 points
It’s no coincidence that Keegan Murray’s play has improved during the Kings’ seven-game winning streak. The former lottery pick has struggled for most of the season, posting 11.9 points on subpar 41.9% shooting from the field (31.7 3PT%). The power forward has begun to turn things around over his last three appearances, averaging 15.7 points during that time (50.0 FG%).
Sacramento will have its hands full tonight on offense against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks. However, Milwaukee’s main strength is defending the paint, not preventing three-point attempts. Once Domantas Sabonis is trapped down low, Murray should be wide open from beyond the arc. All it will take is a handful of long balls from the stretch-four to deliver on this modest number.
Tyrese Maxey less than 3.5 three-pointers made
As previously mentioned, there’s a massive void on offense for the 76ers tonight sans Joel Embiid. Without the former MVP, expect Tyrese Maxey to step up. Following a slow start to the season, Philadelphia’s young All-Star has posted some impressive counting stats: 25.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists through 31 games.
Even with the ball in his hands on nearly every possession, don’t expect Maxey to thrive as a shooter. The guard hasn’t gone over this three-point total in four of his last five games. To make matters worse, the Thunder wield the NBA’s best perimeter defense, holding opponents to the lowest shooting percentage from beyond the arc (32.3%). Four three-pointers against Oklahoma City is a tall order for anyone, even a budding superstar such as Maxey.
Dejounte Murray more than 16.5 points
Now that Zion Williamson is back, the Pelicans have never been healthier. That means less work on offense for the tandem of CJ McCollum and Dejounte Murray. The latter, acquired this summer from the Hawks, has had a tough debut in the Big Easy. Through 23 games, he’s averaged 16.7 points on inefficient 39.0%/29.0%/80.3% shooting splits.
Fortunately for the eight-year veteran, things appear to be headed in the right direction. Over his last four outings, Murray has recorded 23.0 points on 50.0% shooting from the field. There’s no reason to assume that trend won’t continue tonight against a Bulls defense giving up 121.0 points per game, second-most in the NBA. Trusting anyone on New Orleans can be nerve-wracking, but all signs point to an All-Star talent beginning to find his groove.
Nikola Vucevic more than 10.5 rebounds
Even at the age of 34, Nikola Vucevic continues to put up numbers. While the general public doesn’t pay much attention to the Bulls (nor should they), their big man hasn’t lost a step on offense. Through 38 games, the veteran has put up 20.2 points and 10.1 rebounds while shooting 55.7% from the field (42.9 3PT%).
Vucevic has tallied 11 or more rebounds in seven of his last ten outings. That should continue against a Pelicans team giving up the fourth-most boards to opponents (54.6). The last time these two teams met in October, Chicago’s center had a 21-point, 11-rebound performance. Something similar should be in the cards on Tuesday night.
