Anthony Davis best prop bets for January 13

The Los Angeles Lakers will host the San Antonio Spurs as part of the late-night doubleheader as the Clippers host the Miami Heat at the same time. Anthony Davis is set to square up with Victor Wembanyama for the fifth time as last year’s top pick continues on his superstar trajectory.

The Lakers sit in sixth place in the Western Conference with a 20-16 record so far this season. San Antonio enters with an 18-19 record, sitting at 12th place in the conference, but it is more in the playoff mix than most expected entering this season.

Anthony Davis is off to a strong start to the season and he has seen some increased responsibility in the JJ Redick-led system. Throughout the first 34 games this season, he is averaging 25.8 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.1 blocks across his 34.9 minutes of action.

The Lakers enter this game as four-point favorites and -166 on the Moneyline. The Spurs hold +140 odds on the Moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. The game total is set at 221.5 points.

Davis’ props are listed at over/under 26.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 0.5 made three-pointers and 43.5 combined points, rebounds and assists.

Anthony Davis Over 30+ Points (+145)

The matchup between Anthony Davis and Victor Wembanyama will be at the center of everyone’s attention for this matchup. Davis has gotten the better of this battle across their previous four competitions, averaging 31.0 points and 12.3 rebounds in these contests.

The point prop for Davis in this matchup is set at 26.5 for the game and he is averaging 25.8 points on the season. But I like Davis to outperform this in a major way. He has recorded 30+ points in 14 of the 34 games he has played this season and has gone over the standard 26.5-point prop 17 times.

These two teams were initially scheduled to face off on Saturday but the contest was delayed due to the ongoing fires in California. This has led to some additional rest for Davis and the Lakers as they have not played since Tuesday, Jan. 7th. Injuries have been the biggest factor in limiting Davis’ production throughout his career and the additional days off will be beneficial to the foot injury he has battled throughout this season.

While Wembanyama is one of the premier defenders in the league, Davis is one of the few players who can have success in the post against him. Expect the Lakers to lean on this and for Davis’ strength to be problematic against his thin frame. He has scored as many as 40 points when facing the Spurs already this season, which matches the nine-time All-Star’s season-high. Expect this to be the type of matchup that Davis takes personally and capitalize on the +145 odds for him to record 30+ points.

Anthony Davis 3+ Blocks (+210)

Anthony Davis is averaging 2.1 blocks per game on the season and this is the ninth-highest output in this category of his career. The three-time block champion has seen the crown taken from him for the best-shot blocker by the very man he is set to match up with. Victor Wembanyama leads the NBA on the season with 4.0 blocks per game. This is 1.5 more than any other player in the league, with Walker Kessler ranking second in this category at 2.5 blocks per game.

Wembanyama’s ability to deter shots in the paint will be something the Lakers must keep in mind on the offensive end, but look for Davis to make his presence known as well. He has tallied three or more blocks in 13 games already this season and has tallied 10 blocks across his past three games.

San Antonio is allowing 4.6 of its shots to be blocked per game on the season. This is tied for the eighth-best rate in the league, but the opportunity is still there and Davis will lead the charge as no other member of the Lakers is averaging more than 0.8 blocks per game.

This is a matchup that means something in the standings and is beginning to grow into a clash of the titans between these two star big men. Expect a hard-nosed battle in which both defenses bring it and for Davis to be leading the charge for the Lakers defensively. Three blocks is a lot but he has proven capable over his career and reached it 13 times already this season. Getting +210 odds is great value and buckle up for some high-level hoops tonight.
