Los Angeles has no chance to stop Justin Jefferson — it can only hope to contain him. The 25-year-old is coming off his third 1,500+ yard campaign. Playing alongside Jordan Addison has only increased his ceiling. Teams can’t overplay Jefferson with another first-round talent lined up on his opposite side. “Jettas” still draws top corners, but no defensive back in the league has been able to stay in front of him consistently.
In the prior meeting, Minnesota’s superstar dominated, corralling eight of his nine targets for 115 yards. Ahkello Witherspoon and Darious Williams have no chance against Jefferson. Los Angeles has one of the worst secondaries in the league and has only been able to get stops by generating pressure up front. The pass rush isn’t talented enough to routinely get home, which puts immense pressure on the below-average corners. As long as Sam Darnold can put Jefferson in favorable situations, the veteran wideout will have a dominant showing. Crossing the 80-yard threshold feels closer to a certainty than a projection.
