DraftKings Value Picks

C Mark Williams ($6,000)

The Hornets have a franchise center on the roster—he just needs to stay healthy. Mark Williams is a seven-foot genetic freak who is a monster in the paint. Even with various lower body injuries, Williams has been able to look fresh when in the lineup and make an impact. When paired with LaMelo Ball, he is a premier roller and an elite lob threat. Williams has also improved on the low block, flashing solid footwork and poise around the rim.

Thanks to Charlotte’s weak frontcourt, Williams has a monopoly on the boards. He’s corralled at least eight rebounds in seven straight games and has been impressive on the offensive glass. He’s averaging a hair under 28 fantasy points an outing but has been consistently north of 30 the last few weeks.

The team hasn’t played since January 7th because they were in Los Angeles during the recent fires and are well rested for the clash with Phoenix. The Suns are vulnerable down low, and the switch to starting Mason Plumlee has only made their defense worse. Williams is finally fresh and ready to contribute at a higher level—this is a prime spot for him to prove himself.

SG/SF Bennedict Mathurin ($5,700)

Bennedict Mathurin’s recent shaky stretch shouldn’t downplay the start of a breakout campaign. He has career-best marks in rebounds and field goal percentage and is developing into a stellar scorer. He’s a flexible combo wing with a tight handle and can easily create his own shot. Mathurin can be overreliant on his jumper but is most dangerous when he can explode to the cup.

Mathurin’s found his stroke, hitting over 60% of his shots in his last two games. He is a mid-range assassin, but if the three-ball falls, his ceiling dramatically increases. Mathurin has to play a red-hot Cleveland squad with a ferocious defense, but his shot-making will be paramount if Indiana wants to keep pace. He should see an uptick in volume and is talented enough to stuff the stat sheet.
