King of the End Zone — What You Need to Know

DraftKings King of the End Zone Value Picks for Monday, January 13
Cam Akers +220
This game isn’t exactly full of “value” plays that you can choose from. The Rams offense is extremely condensed, so taking anyone other than Kyren Williams, Puka Nacua or Copper Kupp is dangerous. The first value that I liked was Cam Akers against his Rams run defense. The Rams gave up a lot of yards before contact during the regular season at 3.2. That ranked as the eighth-highest in the league, tied with a handful of others. Akers doesn’t see much action in the red zone so if he’s going to score, it’s likely coming from outside of it. That’s what were looking for to potentially hit this King of the End Zone promotion. In his limited workload with the Vikings, Akers has been solid and has logged 3.13 yards after contact. We’ve also seen him snap off 12 runs of over 10 yards. In a game that is very top heavy for touchdowns, Akers is someone I would strongly consider.

Ronnie Rivers +1200
Week 18 took out Blake Corum for the season, as he was diagnosed with a fractured forearm. The move to the IR has pushed Ronnie Rivers up the depth chart and will now be his direct backup. In relief of Corum, Rivers ran 12 times for 48 yards while averaging 2.5 yards after contact. If we’re being honest, Rivers is not going to see the field a ton in Monday’s Wild Card game. But, when looking for value, this is probably the longest odds we’ll get for someone who at least has a shot. I don’t think guys like CJ Ham (+1600) are going to snap off the longest touchdown of this game (watch, he will now). Again, guys like Justin Jefferson (-120) and Nacua (+115) have the best shots of doing so. But, if you want to take a shot and try to scoop up a potential massive bonus bet from this promotion, I don’t have a sprinkle on a guy like Rivers.
