Jordan Love had a great first season as the starting quarterback of the Packers. There was a bit of a drop-off in numbers this season, but injuries also lingered at different parts of the season. Most notably, Love got injured at the very end of the season opener in Brazil against these very same Eagles. The Eagles won that game 34-29 in a thriller, though Love played pretty well.
Last season, Jordan Love did something that rarely happens in the NFL. He won his first career playoff start on the road with a monster game in the Wild Card to defeat the Cowboys. Love then played really well in the first half against the 49ers, but couldn’t hold on to the lead to reach the NFC Championship Game. However, that experience of playing on the road in hostile postseason environments is invaluable and should serve Love well in this game.
The Eagles’ defense really improved throughout the year and was one of the league’s top units by the end of the season. They finished the regular season third in defensive EPA/play, third in defensive EPA/dropback, and second in defensive EPA/rush. The Eagles have a great secondary but teams have had much more success scoring touchdowns through the air against Philadelphia. They rank 27th in opponent passing touchdown percentage, with two-thirds of their touchdowns allowed coming through the air.
My favorite prop bet for this game is for Jordan Love to throw over 1.5 passing touchdowns. Love threw two or more passing touchdowns in eight of 14 games this season excluding the season finale, which he left in the first half. Love also threw for two or more touchdowns in both of the playoff games he started last season. Being able to get this number at plus-money is a bargain as Matt LaFleur should put his trust in the quarterback to win or lose the game.
