A select four-game slate is on tap for basketball fans on Saturday. Among the matchups to watch, a Western Conference showdown between Ja Morant’s Grizzlies and Anthony Edwards’ Timberwolves stands out. With several big names suiting up, there’s plenty of ways to get in on the action with DraftKings NBA Pick6 selections ahead of tonight’s matchups!
Devin Booker more than 7.5 assists
The Suns have been one of the NBA’s most disappointing teams, struggling to a 17-19 record through two months of play. Among the many reasons for Phoenix’s decline, Devin Booker’s poor shooting deserves a mention. The three-time All-Star has only connected on 42.9% of his field goal attempts this season (32.5 3PT%). However, he has been effective as a passer, dishing out a team-leading 7.0 assists through 31 games.
Rather than bank on his scoring, the best way to back Booker tonight is as a creator. The guard has gone over nine assists in each of his last five games, a trend that bodes well going into Saturday’s contest vs. Utah. The Jazz have given up 28.6 assists per game to opponents, fifth-most in the NBA. Until the 28-year-old finds his shooting range, expect his most consistent contributions on offense to come as a distributor.
Grayson Allen less than 3.5 rebounds
As previously mentioned, the Suns are a team in disarray. That’s especially true of their bench, averaging the seventh-fewest points in the NBA (31.8). If there’s any member of Phoenix’s second unit able to catch fire, its Grayson Allen. The sharpshooter is averaging 10.8 points and 2.3 three-pointers on 43.1% shooting (40.5 3PT%) this season.
With that being said, Allen is not very prolific on the glass. The Duke alum has only hauled in 3.1 rebounds per game this season, and there’s little reason to expect more than that tonight. The Jazz are giving up 49.5 boards per game to opponents, second-lowest in the association; all signs are pointing to this spot as a fade.
Tobias Harris more than 13.5 points
The 19-19 Pistons are one of the season’s pleasant surprises. After a miserable 2023-24 campaign, Detroit now finds itself in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race. Among the new faces in Motown, offseason signing Tobias Harris has been a reliable presence for one of the NBA’s youngest teams. This season, the 14-year veteran is putting up 13.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists on 45.2% shooting from the field (35.1 3PT%).
In the right matchup, this steady hand still offers some value. That includes tonight’s game against a Raptors team giving up the fourth-most points to opponents this season (119.1). Over his last five outings vs. Toronto, Harris is averaging 20.0 points per game. The 32-year-old isn’t the most exciting player to back, but he’s a capable shooter that knows how to get the ball in the basket. He should have no problem clearing double-digits against a terrible defensive unit.
Naz Reid more than 17.5 points + rebounds
Following the departure of Karl-Anthony Towns this offseason, expectations were high for Naz Reid. The reigning Sixth Man of the Year now had a clear path to more minutes…or so we thought. Through 37 appearances (zero starts), the big man has seen no meaningful change in playing time, averaging just 24.8 minutes per game. That also applies to his season-long numbers: 12.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
Reid might not be the breakout star some were hoping for, but he’s still one of the association’s top threats off of the bench. Despite their reputation as a defensive-minded team, the Grizzlies are giving up the tenth-most points in basketball (114.8). Reid, in his previous four meetings with Memphis, has produced 15.3 points and 6.0 rebounds over 23.7 minutes. Look for the stretch-five to make his presence felt on Saturday night.
Jaime Jaquez Jr. more than 24.5 points + rebounds + assists
Since Jimmy Butler’s trade request/hiatus, the Heat have had to reshuffle their rotations. One of the biggest beneficiaries has been Jaime Jaquez Jr. The UCLA product has started in each of Miami’s last three games, averaging 18.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists during that time. While some of those counting stats were boosted by a two-overtime triple-double vs. the Kings, it’s clear that JJJ is making the most of this new opportunity.
Miami will continue its West Coast trip tonight vs. a below-average Trail Blazers squad. This season, Portland is allowing the eighth-most points (116.8), seventh-most rebounds (53.4), and fourth-highest three-point percentage (37.4%) to opponents. With so many avenues for Jaquez Jr. to exploit a subpar defense, the forward is lined up for another solid all-around performance. A reasonable P+R+A of 25 or more feels obtainable tonight.
Terry Rozier more than 1.5 three-pointers made
Opportunity abounds for just about every (active) member of Miami’s roster, including Terry Rozier. Acquired last year from the Hornets, the dynamic scorer has averaged 14.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists since joining the Heat. This season, the 30-year-old has had a near-even split on starting games, coming off the bench in 15 of his 32 appearances.
This hasn’t been the best season for Rozier; he’s shooting just 39.7% from the field. Still, there’s enough of a track record to assume this is a slow start rather than a sign of things to come. Despite shooting just 16.7% from beyond the arc, the guard is taking 5.4 three-point attempts over his last ten games. If Rozier is ever going to break his cold streak, it would be tonight against a Trail Blazers team allowing the fourth-highest three-point percentage to opponents (37.4%). This is a riskier play, but all it takes to hit is a pair of treys.
