Zay Flowers Injury Update

Zay Flowers Injury Update

Updated:

By: Dan Johnson

This morning, just over 48 hours before the Baltimore Ravens’ Wild Card Weekend matchup with their divisional rival Pittsburgh Steelers, head coach John Harbaugh announced that star WR Zay Flowers (knee) will not be active for the game:

For those who watch Good Morning Football on NFL Network, this wasn’t exactly a surprise. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport explained how Flowers was a longshot to play:

Prior to any of this, Flowers had sat out all practices this week. The writing for his lack of availability was on the wall.

He appeared to injure his knee in the first half of Week 18’s game against the Cleveland Browns. In his post-game press conference, HC John Harbaugh said it wasn’t “a season-ending injury or anything.” But he did note Flowers would be day-to-day going forward into the playoffs. An obvious hit to the passing offense, seeing as Flowers leads the team in receptions (74) and receiving yards (1,058).

With Flowers officially ruled out, Lamar Jackson’s other pass-catchers like Mark Andrews, Rashod Bateman, Isaiah Likely, and perhaps Keaton Mitchell should see increased volume in the air attack against Pittsburgh.
