Victor Wembanyama Best Prop Bets for January 8

As the NBA approaches the midpoint of its season, some storylines are starting to round into shape: The Washington Wizards are bad. The Cleveland Cavaliers are good. Victor Wembanyama and Giannis Antetokounmpo are two of the most impactful two-way players in the league.

At 9:30 p.m. ET tonight, NBA fans are going to be treated to a nationally-televised battle between men with two of the longest names — and wingspans — in the league. Antetokounmpo, with a league-leading 31.6 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game, has been better. But Wembanyama, with 25.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and a league-leading 4.0 blocks per game, has been no slouch, either.

It’ll be a battle between two teams with similar records — Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs are 18-18, while Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks are 18-16.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Spurs are five-point underdogs and the point total is set to 226.5. Below, I’ve highlighted my favorite prop bets centered around Wembanyama.

Best Victor Wembanyama Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook

Victor Wembanyama 40+ Points + Rebounds (+105)

Perhaps Wembanyama has heard and internalized social media critics’ feedback about him not grabbing enough rebounds at seven-foot-three with an eight-foot wingspan, because he’s responded in his past three games with 18-, 23-, and 14-rebound performances. In the first two games of that stretch, he recorded gaudy rebound totals despite battling much of the game with Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić, a three-time MVP and one of the greatest rebounders of all time. Wembanyama has recorded 40 or more combined points and rebounds in four of his last seven games.

Wembanyama should have a chance to continue his strong rebounding form against a Milwaukee unit that allows 45.5 rebounds per game — the fourth-highest total in the league — despite rostering Antetokounmpo, who is seventh in the league in rebounds and whose 60.2% field goal percentage is by far the highest among 52 players who attempt at least 15 shots per game. Part of the Bucks’ weakness on the boards comes from the fact that Brook Lopez’ 4.8 rebounds per game average is the ninth-lowest among 65 centers who have started at least one game.

Victor Wembanyama U3.5 Turnovers (-135)

Wembanyama has been uncharacteristically sloppy with the ball in recent games, coughing up seven, four, and five turnovers in his past three games. However, I back him to turn it around against Milwaukee, which forces just 13.8 turnovers per game, the eighth-fewest in basketball.

On Wednesday, Wembanyama will likely spend most of his game guarded by Antetokounmpo, who’s probably a top-five defender in the league. With the menacing presence of Antetokounmpo in the center of the Bucks’ defense, interim coach Mitch Johnson might entrust more ball-handling duties than usual to point guards Chris Paul and Stephon Castle, given that Milwaukee point guard Damian Lillard is a significant negative on defense. Instead, the Spurs could use high-post screens and off-ball movement to get Wembanyama easy shots instead of having him isolate against Antetokounmpo. Besides, Antetokounmpo’s 1.1% steal percentage in 2024-25 is the lowest of his career.
