The Philadelphia 76ers lost to the struggling Phoenix Suns 109-99 on Monday. Tonight, the Wizards are in Philly for a game at 7:00 p.m. ET. But Joel Embiid and Paul George will both be out for the contest. Embiid has a foot injury, while George suffers from left groin tightness.
Tyrese Maxey will again take the reigns as the go-to option for the Sixers. This is nothing new for him, as he has played 18 games this season without Embiid and George. Let’s look at my favorite prop bet for Maxey against the Wizards.
Tyrese Maxey over 30.5 points (-110)
Although Maxey has missed six games, he has been the most consistent player for the Sixers this season. He leads the team in scoring (25.4) and assists (5.6) per game. Maxey’s volume on offense has been up and down in each game. But with Philly’s top two veterans on the sideline tonight, Maxey will most likely attempt 20-plus field goals. He has had 21 or more field goal attempts in the last four contests without Embiid and George.
Maxey is coming off a big 31-point performance against the Suns. His total points are set at 30.5, which is -110 on DraftKings Sportsbook. Maxey has four games with at least 30 points during the last eight games. Maxey has hit this scoring total in two of the previous four games without George and Embiid.
The Sixers are playing the Wizards tonight, who allow the most points (122.2) to opposing teams in the NBA. Given that two of the team’s best scorers are unavailable, this is a great spot to back Maxey. He has been on the cusp of hitting this scoring mark against Washington, as he scored 28 points in their previous matchup. But tonight, I believe he will score more than 30.5 points when facing the Wizards, who have the worst record in the NBA.
