Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic will not play Tuesday night vs. the Boston Celtics due to illness.
The three-time MVP was not initially listed on the team’s injury report; however, Jokic popped up with a probable tag in the late afternoon before being downgraded to questionable. He was downgraded to out an hour before the 10 p.m. EST tip-off.
Per Denver Gazette beat writer Vinny Benedetto, Jokic was seen walking out of the team locker room with a trainer before exiting the arena. According to Benedetto, Nuggets head coach Michael Malone said pregame that Jokic wasn’t feeling great on Monday and became more sick throughout the day on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old big man is putting up yet another MVP-caliber season, averaging 31.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 9.7 assists per game across his 31 appearances.
With Jokic out of the lineup, backup center DeAndre Jordan will likely see increased minutes, with Zeke Nnaji potentially seeing time on the floor, too.
With a 20-14 record, the Nuggets currently sit fourth place in a loaded Western Conference’s standings.
