Jeff’s King of the End Zone Picks for Saturday, January 11: Quentin Johnston & Calvin Austin III
King of the End Zone creates a unique situation for DraftKings Sportsbook users. Do you target lesser-known players who could strike gold with an improbable long score, or do you trust the favorites, especially on a small slate?
Thankfully, King of the End Zone allows users to parlay picks, so you have the opportunity to mix and match these strategies if you wish. That’s exactly what I’m doing with this pair of selections.
Johnston is a bonafide big-play threat, scoring eight touchdowns this year as Justin Herbert’s go-to deep ball target. He’s also coming off the best game of his career, in which he caught 13 of 14 balls for 186 yards. The 23-year-old should see at least a couple long balls come his way against the Texans.
Calvin Austin III is a very intriguing option to me. Despite being 5’9, the speedster averages over 15 yards per catch. He’s racked up four scores on the year, demonstrating a capability of finding the end zone, and has seen a snap share of 75% or higher in three of Pittsburgh’s last four games. Those factors make him a worthy dark horse option against a Ravens secondary that allowed the second-most receiving yards per game this year.
