Embiid (foot) is listed as questionable, but he has played through this designation in back-to-back games. With this being an island game for the 76ers, the center should be a full go Monday. Philadelphia is back at home after a six-game road trip, and they get a prime matchup vs. the Suns, who rank 25th in defensive efficiency and have dropped four games in a row.
Given this ugly streak, Phoenix is expected to shake up their starting lineup tonight, with Bradley Beal and Jusuf Nurkic moving to the bench. Ryan Dunn and Mason Plumlee will be starting. While this move may motivate Beal and Nurkic, Plumlee joining the first unit is bad news for the Suns’ already poor defense. With the veteran on the floor this season, Phoenix’s defense rating has been at a putrid 119.2, which would be the worst defensive rating in the NBA if it was the Suns’ average for the season.
Plumlee has no chance of slowing down Embiid and the former MVP should have one of his best outings of the season. Paul George joining Philadelphia this season hasn’t changed Embiid’s role in any way, with the center ranking third in the league in usage rate (35.8%). With the 76ers only favored by 3.5 points, Embiid should approach 35 minutes tonight and for the last four occasions that he has competed at home and as a favorite in a spread of less than five points, Embiid has been a monster with 38.8 PPG.
Embiid should surpass this 29.5-point scoring line Monday and parlaying him with the 76ers on the ML has a ton of merit, with this two-pick SGP resulting in a favorable +178 price on the DraftKings Sportsbook. As noted above, the Suns have lost four straight games, while the 76ers have won six of their last seven with Embiid active.
