The Jets have had a disastrous season and it comes to an end on Sunday. Months ago, the Jets hoped that the addition of Davante Adams could be the thing that sparked their season and got them to a championship level. Unfortunately for them, it did not even get them to the level of a six-win NFL team. Now, that is not the fault of Adams directly. Adams has actually been pretty productive during his Jets tenure. Despite missing several games this season with an injury, Adams is just 25 yards away from another 1,000-yard receiving season.
Adams’ future in New York, along with his quarterback’s future, is very much up in the air but the duo would love to end the season on a positive note. Adams is playing at a high level still and whether it is with the Jets or not, he will still be playing football next year. However, this may be Aaron Rodgers’ final NFL game. Adams is one of Rodgers’ closest friends and the duo will want to put on a display like old times for Rodgers’ final game, if that is to be the case. Most importantly, Rodgers can throw his 500th career touchdown pass on Sunday. He is currently sitting at 499 career touchdown passes and he would love to throw his 500th to his old friend. Adams caught Rodgers’ 200th and 400th career touchdown passes so it would be fitting for Adams to catch his 500th as well.
It might seem like a contrived storyline but if you don’t think that Rodgers will force the ball to Adams early on to ensure that Adams catches his 500th career touchdown pass, then you don’t know Rodgers like I do. Rodgers would love the sentimentality and storyline of throwing that milestone touchdown pass to Adams in what could be the final game of his career. Adams did have a monster game the last time these two teams played, going for nine catches, 109 receiving yards and a touchdown. He has five touchdowns in his past five games and should find the end zone again in this matchup against the Dolphins.
