He is shooting a career-best 41.2% from beyond the three-point line while launching 9.3 perimeter shots per game. There are plenty of storylines surrounding this Cavaliers team and Mitchell remains at the epicenter of their production.
After showing a bit of promise to start the season, the Hornets have looked lifeless as of late. Looking at the season-long sample size, Charlotte ranks 29th in scoring, 30th in team field-goal percentage and 22nd in team three-point percentage. Cleveland has had success on the defensive side of the ball and this game has the makings of a blowout.
This will be the third matchup between the Hornets and Cavaliers this season. Mitchell missed one matchup and finished with 18 points, eight assists and eight rebounds in the other matchup. This was his second-highest assist total of the season, with Mitchell having nine assists in one other game this year.
Mitchell is averaging 4.7 assists per game on the season and has been held under 5.5 assists in 21 of the 33 games he has played. Don’t expect there to be a need for Mitchell to play any minutes in the fourth quarter and for Cleveland to keep its bigger goals in mind. His impressive assist total in the first matchup with the Hornets was an outlier on the season, so expect a more mild output today.
