At the start of last year, Haliburton was lighting the league on fire. Then he suffered a severe hamstring injury and seemingly rushed back to help his team stay afloat. When he returned to the lineup, he was a different guy. The juice off the dribble was gone, the shot wasn’t falling, and he looked like a shell of himself. Haliburton had some flashes in the postseason but re-injured the hamstring.
This season, he came out of the gates sluggish but has slowly regained his All-NBA form. Haliburton has scored at least 27 points in three of his last four outings and is shooting 44 percent from distance since the start of January. He looks comfortable again, and his burst is back. Haliburton is the offensive engine and the primary ball handler. Everything runs through him, so his scoring output is dependent on his aggressiveness.
The Nets rank 24th in defensive efficiency, so Haliburton should be able to get to the cup effortlessly and feast in transition. I’m backing the plus value and generous line, given the favorable matchup.
