The Celtics finish their back-to-back on Friday night with a road game in Houston after getting a win in Minnesota on Thursday against the Timberwolves. The team was without both Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis for that game and both are listed as questionable for Friday’s game in Houston.
Injury Report for tonight at Houston:
Jaylen Brown (right shoulder strain) – QUESTIONABLE
Al Horford (rest) – OUT
Kristaps Porzingis (left ankle sprain) – QUESTIONABLE— Boston Celtics (@celtics) January 3, 2025
Brown is second on the team behind only Jayson Tatum ($10,200) in usage and Porzingis is third with a 25.2% usage rate. Porzingis has only been able to play 11 games this season, averaging 33.7 fantasy points per game.
With both players out on Thursday, Tatum carried the load with 33 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and 64.5 fantasy points in 38 minutes. Derrick White ($7,100) and Jrue Holiday ($5,100) also got some extra work and finished with 38 and 32.25 fantasy points, respectively.
If Brown and Porzingis remain out on Friday, Tatum and those guards would have to do more heavy lifting, while bargain plays Luke Kornet ($4,000) and Neemias Queta ($3,900) would have to take on more minutes in the frontcourt with Al Horford (rest) also out.
With Brown, Porzingis and Horford off the floor this season, Tatum produces 1.7 fantasy points per minute while his usage increases almost 10% to a sky-high 40.0%. Payton Pritchard ($6,000) has also thrived in that scenario, averaging 1.0 fantasy point per minute with that trio off the floor.
