It’s Bowl Season in college football, and there will be some amazing performances on display. Here is how to bet on those player props on DraftKings Sportsbook.
First Responder Bowl: North Texas vs. Texas State
Shane Porter 50+ Rushing Yards (+130)
North Texas finished the season with the 4th-most passing yards per game in the nation. However, star quarterback Chandler Morris has opted out of this bowl game as he begins his transfer to the University of Virginia. That means this North Texas offense will look completely different. They threw the ball at one of the highest rates in the country, but will now be starting true freshman QB Drew Mestemaker for this game. Mestemaker has just five passing attempts this season and will come into this game with virtually no college football experience.
The North Texas coaching staff should rely on the running game more frequently than they normally do. Texas State ranks 63rd in the country in rush yards per game allowed and 69th in defensive EPA/rush. They are much better against the pass, ranking 36th in defensive EPA/pass. That provides even more incentive to try to run the football more often. Junior running back Shane Porter was the Mean Green’s leading rusher this season. He got limited carries because of how pass-heavy the offense was, but he showed he could capitalize when given a healthy dose of carries. There were five games this season where Porter got double-digit carries and he averaged 99.6 rushing yards per game in those five games. Porter should see double-digit carries in this game and cruise over 50 rushing yards.
Duke’s Mayo Bowl: Minnesota vs. Virginia Tech
Max Brosmer 2+ Passing Touchdowns (+165)
Minnesota had a good end to their regular season, nearly knocking off Penn State in a thriller and winning their regular season finale against Wisconsin in dominant fashion. Minnesota should be highly motivated to end the season strong in this highly regarded bowl game. On the other side, Virginia Tech seems disinterested in this game. Head Coach Brent Pry has been ambiguous about which players will be playing in this game but the Hokies have a heap of players in the transfer portal, including multiple defensive starters. Hokies DE Antwaun Powell-Ryland, who finished third in the country in sacks this season, has opted out for the NFL Draft, along with DL Aeneas Peebles and CB Dorian Strong, two other defensive starters.
Against a Virginia Tech defense full of backups, Minnesota QB Max Brosmer should have a lot of success. Brosmer was solid for the Golden Gophers all season and this will be his final game as a collegiate player. Brosmer will want to end on a strong note and he should be able to do so against this depleted Hokie defense. Minnesota has struggled to run the ball all season, ranking outside the top 100 in the country in EPA/rush and rushing success rate. Therefore, they should lean on Brosmer, especially in the red zone, to exploit the Hokie defense. You can bet that Brosmer will throw 2+ passing touchdowns at massive odds of +165, something he has done five times this season and should do so again in this bowl game.
