Jaxson Dart 275+ Passing Yards (-110)
Jaxson Dart had an incredible statistical season for Ole Miss, despite the team falling short of expectations and missing the College Football Playoff. Dart finished the season sixth in FBS in passing yards and first in passer rating. Dart also rushed for 452 yards and three touchdowns, on top of his great season as a passer.
Going into this game, one would think that Duke would be highly motivated after exceeding expectations to go 9-3 in year one under Manny Diaz, while Ole Miss would not care about this game after their disappointing finish to the regular season. However, Dart, who plans on heading to the NFL next season, is playing in this game and so are a lot of other NFL-bound Rebels. It is particularly big for Ole Miss that every member of their incredible defensive line is planning on playing. Meanwhile, Duke quarterback Maalik Murphy has opted out of the game and committed to Oregon State in the transfer portal.
Based on the players participating in the game and all of the tweeting that Lane Kiffin has been doing, Ole Miss should put forth a good effort and try to make a statement. Kiffin has been one of the main flag-bearers that the SEC should have had more teams in the CFP and that they are the superior conference. So, Kiffin should do everything in his power to back up that talk with a dominant on-field performance.
My favorite bet for this game is for Dart to hit 275 or more passing yards. This will likely be his last game as a college quarterback and he will want to end it with a bang. This Duke defense is tough, but they have faced a really weak schedule of opposing quarterbacks. They played three teams with a legit quarterback all year, Miami, SMU and Georgia Tech. Not coincidentally, those were also Duke’s three losses. All three of those teams were able to hit explosive plays, particularly Miami. Cam Ward threw for 400 yards against the Blue Devils and he is the closest comparison to Dart of the quarterbacks Duke faced this season. Dart should be able to throw for 275 yards or more en route to a big Ole Miss victory.
