The Chicago Bulls might not necessarily need Zach LaVine tonight to beat the Washington Wizards, who have the third-worst net rating in NBA history. But having the services of a six-foot-five, high-flying shooting guard who is averaging 22.0 points per game and shooting 44.7% from deep is never a bad thing.
Thankfully for Bulls fans, LaVine is set to make his return tonight from a one-game injury absence against the Wizards at 7 p.m. ET. He suffered a toe contusion and missed Chicago’s most recent game, a 115-108 overtime victory over the Charlotte Hornets on December 30. Overall, LaVine has appeared in 28 of the team’s 33 games so far this season.
LaVine’s return gives the Bulls an extra scoring punch, and he has an extremely favorable matchup against Washington shooting guard Jordan Poole, one of the NBA’s most inept defenders. Chicago is 15-18, good for the ninth seed in the crowded Eastern Conference play-in picture. The Bulls are one game behind the Indiana Pacers, who are not in action on Wednesday night, and half a game ahead of the Detroit Pistons, who host the Orlando Magic at 7 p.m. ET.
