The Orlando Magic have been one of the better stories in the NBA this season. Despite significant injuries to their two biggest stars, the youthful roster continues to compete at a high level and get results. Jalen Suggs has been at the forefront of this effort.
Orlando sits in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a 20-14 record despite Paolo Banchero playing just five games and Franz Wagner missing the past nine games after joining his teammate on the injury report with a torn oblique of his own. They will look to continue building off this tonight when they face off with the Detroit Pistons.
The Pistons enter this game as 2-point favorites and hold -135 odds on the Moneyline. The Magic hold +114 odds on the Moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook and the game total is set at 212.5.
Best Jalen Suggs Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Suggs’ props are listed at over/under 20.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.5 made three-pointers and 28.5 combined points, rebounds and assists.
Jalen Suggs Over 2.5 Made Three-Pointers
The Orlando Magic have been a perfect example of the next-man-up mentality. Franz Wagner took a massive statistical leap following the injury to Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs joined this pathway following the injury to Wagner.
On the season overall, Suggs is averaging 16.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.8 rebounds per game. Across the nine games he has played without Wagner, Suggs is averaging 19.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists. He also left the previous game after just 13 minutes due to a wrist injury, which deflated these stats. Suggs is listed as probable with the wrist injury tonight.
Looking at the matchup, Detroit enters with a 14-18 record and is in 10th place in the Eastern Conference. It ranks 21st in opponent points per game, 30th in three-point percentage allowed and 23rd in opponent field-goal percentage. Suggs left the first matchup with the Pistons with a hamstring injury back on Nov. 23rd and was limited to nine minutes of play.
Suggs has struggled to shoot the ball this season. He is shooting just 41.0% from the field and 30.9% from beyond the three-point arc. For reference, he shot 47.1% from the field and 39.7% on three-pointers last season. He is attempting a career-high seven three-point attempts per game and the league-worst three-point defense from the Pistons could be the perfect cure to this.
Even amid the shooting struggles, the Gonzaga product has made at least three three-pointers in 11 games. He has connected on over 2.5 three-pointers in five of the past 10 games and will continue to see increased shot opportunities without Wagner and Banchero. It also may be worth taking a chance on Suggs making 4+ three-pointers at +215 odds, which he has reached four times in the past 10 games.
For the sake of this article, we will keep it to the normal prop line of over 2.5 made three-pointers, but expect a strong performance from Suggs against the NBA’s worst three-point defense.
