Is Payne Durham a strong DFS target if Cade Otton sits in Week 18?

Cade Otton ($4,200; knee) has missed back-to-back games and is trending toward missing his third in a row on Sunday vs. the Saints. The tight end missed his second straight practice Wednesday. With Otton sidelined, Durham ($3,200) has been solid as the Buccaneers’ starting tight end, scoring 7.9 FPTS vs. the Cowboys in Week 16 and then 11.6 FPTS vs. the Panthers in Week 17.

With the starting job, Durham has seen a 13.3 percent target share — including one red zone target — while running a route on 78 percent of his team’s dropbacks. While the target share is lower, this is close to the same role Otton has handled this season and Payne’s $3,200 salary for this week is simply too cheap for this type of workload. Otton was priced up to $4,500 for his last game and peaked at $5,500 on DraftKings earlier this season.

The Buccaneers can secure a playoff spot with a win over New Orleans this Sunday and with the Saints having nothing to play for, Tampa Bay is a -122 favorite to score over 27.5 points on the DraftKings Sportsbook. The Buccaneers are without a doubt one of the best offenses to target for DFS in Week 18, and Durham is a great, cheap way to gain exposure to Tampa Bay if Otton is out as expected. The Saints are allowing the second most touchdowns to tight ends this season (eight) and Durham finding paydirt for the second straight game is a realistic possibility.
