Best Scottie Barnes prop bet for December 31

The Raptors are visiting the Celtics on Tuesday afternoon, as the NBA spreads out its schedule on New Year’s Eve. On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Raptors are 17-point underdogs in Boston, which makes sense given that Toronto’s currently riding a 10-game losing streak.

Below, I have featured my favorite Scottie Barnes prop to consider from this contest.

Scottie Barnes Over 7.5 Assists (+130)

With Immanuel Quickley (elbow) still sidelined due to injury, Scottie Barnes will continue to inhabit the point-forward role for the Raptors. It’s a responsibility that should only expand with RJ Barrett (illness) not even making the trip to Boston with the team. With Barrett off the court in 2024-25, Barnes has registered a 27.8% usage rate and a 34.4% assist rate.

Barnes has been a generally reliable source of assists regardless of who shares the floor with him this season, as the former All-Star is averaging a career-high 7.1 dimes per game. Specific to his last 11 starts, Barnes has cleared this prop seven times. It’s a stretch where Barnes also sits third in the NBA in passes per contest (64.5), fifth in potential assists per contest (15.2) and eighth in touches per contest (87.9). Volume is not going to be an issue.

I wouldn’t worry about a lopsided script messing with Barnes’ minutes, either. The Raptors have lost their last two games by 29 points. Despite that, Barnes has logged at least 35 minutes in both defeats.
