Week 17 has been full of games all throughout the week. It closes out Monday night with a matchup between the Lions and 49ers in San Francisco. Captain’s Picks
Jauan Jennings ($11,700): So here’s the thing about the captain spot for tonight. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, is going to gravitate toward Jahmyr Gibbs ($17,400). That’s fine! He’s a great captain play but it’s going to result in a lot of duplicate lineups. If you want to be different, I think Jennings is a good play. The Lions have allowed a TON of production to perimeter wide receivers lately. Over the last month, the Lions have allowed the most receiving yards to them. The 613 receiving yards averages out to 10.8 yards per attempt and 12.4 air yards. The 49ers have nothing to play for yet are only +3.5 underdogs in this game. Jennings should continue to see plenty of volume in this game and if he can get into the end zone, would be a low owned captain play at a fraction of the cost.
FLEX Plays
Brock Purdy ($9,400): Going with the Jennings captain play, Purdy is an obvious second click. It doesn’t feel like it because the 49ers aren’t playing well, but Purdy is indeed throwing the ball efficiently. The matchup is a good one, as the Lions pass defense has really gone backwards lately. Over the last month, the Lions have allowed the second-most passing yards, 8.7 YPA, 10.4 AY/A (highest in the league) and a 109.2 passing rating. Again, this build should be unique and allows you to fit Gibbs into a FLEX spot while leaving some wiggle room with your salary. The three players to start your lineup leaves you an average of $5,766 for your remaining three roster spots.
Sam LaPorta ($5,800): Checking right in with the average salary we have remaining for our roster, LaPorta fits in perfectly. His role has seemingly increased lately and has averaged 15.3 DKFP over the last four weeks. LaPorta has scored three times over that span and his presence in the red zone has naturally grown. After seeing just six red zone targets through Week 1-8, LaPorta has collected 10 since then. He’s seen at least two red zone targets in each game since Week 12, with the exception of Week 15. It’s not a great matchup against the 49ers, but the Lions will be in the red zone and LaPorta should get his looks. With his recent production, $5,800 is a hard salary to ignore.

Craig Reynolds ($3,000): You’re not going to want to do it, but you have to spend down somewhere. This slate is quite top heavy, meaning you’ll need to dumpster dive to jam these players in. I’m not thrilled about playing Reynolds but the selection in this area is BAD. I mean, the only other player in this range I would consider is Kyle Juszczyk, and he’s not even guaranteed a touch in this game. The only saving grace I have for Reynolds is that he did see two touches in the red zone last week. If he can vulture a touchdown from Gibbs, it would be massive against the field. Grabbing Gibbs/Reynolds is a far FAR cry from Gibbs/Montgomery, but you’ll likely soak up all the ground work.
