DraftKings, your paradise of DFS nirvana, has done it again with a new contest called NBA Starting 5. You select one point guard, one shooting guard, one small forward, one power forward and one center. There is no salary cap. The only stipulation is that you must select players from at least two different teams.

For Tuesday’s Starting 5 slate, there are six games.

As for injuries, Grayson Allen is probable. Devin Booker is questionable. Ja Morant, Zach Edey, Brandon Clarke, Jake LaRavia, Jusuf Nurkic, Royce O’Neale and Santi Aldama are out. Keep track of all the pertinent injury updates at DK Live.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, SA is -2.5 over LAC at home with the total at 217.5. OKC is -6.5 over MIN at home with the total at 214.5. CLE is -3 over LAL on the road with the total at 227.5. PHO is -7.5 over MEM at home with the total at 237.5. Log into DK Sportsbook for the updates.

Point Guard

I have slight hesitation because of the matchup, but since price isn’t a consideration, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is my choice. He’s a professional bucket-getter and garners a high usage rate. It wouldn’t surprise me if he finishes in the 40 FPTS range, but he is so freaking good that 70 FPTS is always in play, something he’s done three times this season.

Shooting Guard

Donovan Mitchell is playing almost four fewer minutes than last season, but that’s due to some blowouts and Kenny Atkinson prioritizing pace and space while trying to keep the players fresh. Cleveland is sixth in pace and tops in offensive efficiency. The fewer minutes obviously lowers the ceiling for Mitchell and Cleveland has a ton of talent, so Mitchell doesn’t have to carry the load on a nightly basis. That said, he’s gone over 50 FPTS eight times with three over 60 FPTS. When Mitchell faced the Lakers back on October 30th, he finished with 45.25 FPTS in 30 minutes during a blowout.

Small Forward

Norman Powell has put up at least 30 FPTS in all but seven games this season. He’s gone over 40 FPTS seven times with two over 50 FPTS. While he doesn’t contribute much in the periphery categories, Powell is hucking around 20 shots per game and tickling the twine very efficiently. Over the last five games, Powell has finished with 26, 29, 28, 29 and 29 points.

Power Forward

Kevin Durant has put up at least 40 FPTS in each of the last seven games with two of those over 60 FPTS. With Devin Booker out, he is the alpha on offense for Phoenix. Durant is playing in the high 30s while attempting over 20 shots on most nights. Durant also contributes a little something something across the board which provides for a decent fantasy floor.

Center

Victor Wembanyama is starting to figure it out, as he’s been more consistent recently. He has scored at least 40 FPTS in each of the last 19 games with seven of those over 60, five over 70 and two over 80! We haven’t seen his ceiling yet and it wouldn’t surprise if he starts putting up 100 FPTS on the regular.
