The Lions look to stick to their winning ways against the depleted 49ers on Monday Night Football.

DraftKings is offering a primetime DFS contest for the chance to win $300,000. I’ve gone through the showdown contest and identified a pair of under-the-radar options that can help give you a critical edge.

DraftKings Showdown Value Plays

Sam LaPorta ($5,800)

Sam LaPorta’s career started on a roller coaster. After being a complimentary piece early in his rookie season, LaPorta burst onto the scene and became a top tight end overnight. The blend of physical blocking and premier route running looked like shades of Rob Gronkowski. He was a pivotal cog in their postseason push and came into this campaign with soaring expectations. LaPorta hasn’t been the transformative player some expected, but he’s heating up again at the right time.

Over his last six games, he’s found his form, scoring over ten fantasy points in five of the contests. He’s been much more of a factor near the goal line, scoring four of his six touchdowns in that span. LaPorta has a massive frame but can quickly generate separation with his fluid hips. That size and creation ability do wonders when the field shrinks.

LaPorta is starting to get more looks in stride. He has enough quickness to reach the next level, where he can bulldoze smaller defenders. The San Francisco secondary is one of the most banged-up units in the league and will struggle to match up with LaPorta’s strengths. Expect him to keep his hot streak alive under the lights.

Ricky Pearsall ($3,600)

Here we go again. Ricky Pearsall will finish toward the top of the value play leaderboard, purely off the idea of him being able to produce. The rookie has already had to overcome so much during his time as a pro, but he’s undoubtedly been disappointing when in the lineup. Pearsall has the ability to line up outside the numbers or in the slot, but it’s the latter where he flourished during his tenure at the University of Florida. He pairs track speed with impressive lateral quickness to give corners fits. This arsenal has not translated, and he’s been an invisible asset.

Pearsall has had three showings with at least four receptions but has only crossed the double-digit fantasy point threshold twice. The team has been desperate for a pass catcher to step up, but he’s failed to deliver. With the year winding down, the club should put an emphasis on giving their young guys a chance and seeing if they can flourish. Pearsall should get some extra work, and the first-rounder can operate against a vulnerable Detroit secondary.

Xaiver joined DraftKings in August 2024, fresh out of the University of Oregon. The Massachusetts native was commenting on his sports video games by the time he could tie his shoes and fantasized about turning his favorite hobby into his future career. He might not have grown tall enough to be an elite stretch-five who could rock the rim, but this content-creating thing is a decent second option.
