Even without Montgomery to bruise opposing front sevens, Gibbs’s home run ability helps give this offense a different level of explosiveness. That doesn’t just relate to the ground game.
Gibbs has an excellent pair of hands and is a premier dump-off option. He is a mismatch for any opposing linebacker and is an impressive route runner at his position. He’s had over 40 receiving yards in consecutive contests, garnering over five targets in each. His uptick in snaps only increases his opportunity to see work through the air.
Outside of perennial All-Pro Fred Warner, San Francisco is weak in the middle, and Gibbs’ combination of speed and acceleration will be hard to contain. Getting this attainable line at a plus value is too good to pass up. It won’t take him many receptions to cross this threshold, and the game script benefits a resounding over.
