In the final matchup of tonight’s NBA slate, Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves will host the San Antonio Spurs.
These two teams are separated by a half-game in the standings and sit in eighth and ninth place in a stacked Western Conference. San Antonio has officially put itself on the map this season with Victor Wembanyma’s superstar trajectory proving to be well under way.
Minnesota is attempting to return to the postseason threat it proved to be last year by making it to the Western Conference Finals. It’s still searching for its identity following the surprising offseason trade of Karl-Anthony Towns. However, the Timberwolves enter this matchup having won back-to-back games and there is still plenty of talent on the roster. San Antonio is a matchup they will need to bring their best effort for.
The Timberwolves enter this game as 6.5-point favorites and hold -225 odds on the moneyline. The Spurs hold +185 odds on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook and the game total is set at 215.5.

Through the opening 30 games, Anthony Edwards is averaging 25.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists. The biggest change in his game this season has been his growth as a three-point shooter.
The former No. 1 overall pick is attempting a career-high 9.8 three-point attempts per game. He is fifth in the NBA in three-point volume and connecting on 42 percent of these long-range attempts. This comes out to an average of 4.1 made three-pointers per game.
Overall, Edwards has made four or more three-pointers in 21 of the 30 games this year. While he has cooled off a bit from his incredibly hot start to the season, Edwards has still made four or more three-pointers in three of the past four games. He has not attempted fewer than seven three-pointers in a game since Dec. 2.
Looking at this matchup, San Antonio ranks 17th in the NBA in three-point attempts allowed per game. Wembanyama’s league-leading 4.0 blocks per game is a significant deterrent and one that forces teams to be more reliant on their perimeter shooting. While Edwards will surely give Wembanyama a run for his money at the rim if the situation arises, expect his perimeter shooting to play a larger factor tonight.
Edwards’ standard three-point line is set at 2.5 made three-pointers with the over favored at -166 odds. The Georgia product has cleared this number in 26 of the 30 games this season, but I like the +135 odds of him logging an additional make which he has done in just five fewer games this year. The oddsmakers continue to approach Edwards’ three-point props with skepticism, but he continues to shoot at a career-high rate with increased volume. Expect that to continue tonight.
