Ray-Ray McCloud ($5,400)
An All-Value First Team nominee, Ray-Ray McCloud, continues to soar past his minuscule pre-season expectations. Before this campaign, his name was far more memorable than any moment he contributed to on the field. He spent the bulk of his time on special teams as a gunner or return specialist, but failed to get consistent snaps as a receiver. In Atlanta, that’s completely changed, as offensive coordinator Zac Robinson has unlocked McCloud as a burner in the slot, who can threaten defenses vertically or catch the ball in stride and use his speed to dash for extra yards.
Despite his diminutive stature, McCloud isn’t afraid to go over the middle or up the seam to corral a pass. Although his production has tapered off the past two weeks, his fearlessness has led to some solid box score outputs. He’s put up double-digit fantasy outings six times and seems consistently on the precipice of a full-on breakout. Under the lights in a must-win game against a weak secondary, the game script calls for McCloud to be involved and deliver a serviceable showing.
Chris Rodriguez Jr. ($2,000)
On the surface, the Washington ground attack has been stellar. The unit is third in the NFL in EPA per rush after being tenth with a negative rating in the category a year ago. Much of this is due to Jayden Daniels at quarterback, a tremendous athlete who decimates defenses. The running back room has been a different story, with Brian Robinson Jr. dramatically flaming out across the past month and a half, crescendoing in a disastrous two-fumble performance Sunday against Philadelphia. His decline is an increasing concern with the postseason looming, and the club will have to look internally for answers, with second-year pro Chris Rodriguez Jr. most likely to see an uptick in workload.
The Kentucky product is a tank back whose game relies on bulldozing through defenders and premier vision. He’s a physical runner and has been impressive in limited showings. Rodriguez is due to see more looks near the goal line and on early downs and could be a DFS name to remember from here on out. At such an affordable pre-assigned value, he’s worth the dice roll in the chance he’s able to find the end zone.
