It’s Bowl Season in college football, and there will be some amazing performances on display. Here is how to bet on those player props on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Armed Forces Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Navy
Eli Heidenreich Anytime Touchdown (+135)
Navy is always a great team to back during Bowl Season. While other teams are full of opt-outs and transfers or lack motivation for a “meaningless” bowl game, Navy always gives maximum effort. Navy has won five of their past six bowl games, dating back to 2013. Meanwhile, Oklahoma is 0-2 in bowl games under Brent Venables, giving up 38 points to Arizona last year and 35 points to Florida State the year before. As usual, Navy does not have a single opt-out for this game. Oklahoma, on the other hand, has a large amount of opt-outs including their starting QB Jackson Arnold and their top defensive player, LB Danny Stutsman.
In addition to Danny Stutsman, Oklahoma’s defense is missing starting CB Cani Walker, CB Dezjhon Malone and safety Billy Bowman as well. Just like in the past two bowl games under Head Coach Brent Venables, the Oklahoma defense should be really vulnerable. Navy has one of the best rushing attacks in the country and they have added a great passing component to their offense this season as well. Eli Heidencreich has been a key part of that offensive attack. He is a running back but he also leads the team in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Overall, Heidenreich has nine total touchdowns this season, including one in each of his past two games. Heidenreich should be able to find the end zone against Oklahoma as well and this is a great price to get for him to score.
Birmingham Bowl: Georgia Tech vs. Vanderbilt
Haynes King 200+ Passing Yards (+105)
Haynes King was having a good season for Georgia Tech before getting injured in the middle of the season and missing a few games. Even when King did return, he was used mainly as a runner because he still couldn’t throw down the field. However, he was expected to be back at full strenth for the regular-season finale against Georgia and he didn’t disappoint. King threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns while running for 110 yards and three more touchdowns against the Bulldogs.
King is now clearly at full health and has even had a couple of extra weeks to rest and prepare for this matchup against Vanderbilt. The Commodores have struggled to defend the pass this season, ranking 124th in defensive EPA/pass and 101st in passing yards per game allowed. Georgia Tech should be able to air it out against Vanderbilt and rack up the yardage for Haynes King. In the eight games this season that King has been the full-time quarterback, he is averaging 233.9 passing yards per game. Against a bad Vanderbilt secondary on the national stage, King should hit the 200-yard mark handily.
Holiday Bowl: Syracuse vs. Washington State
Kyle McCord 325+ Passing Yards (-115)
After transferring from Ohio State to Syracuse last offseason, Kyle McCord ended up leading the nation in completions and passing yards for the Orange this year. He had an incredible season and has committed to play in this bowl game as well to end the season on a high note. This game could get out of hand quickly due to Washington State’s depleted roster. Washington State has had ten starters opt-out of the game already, including their starting quarterback John Mateer. This line has moved dramatically in Syracuse’s favor and they are now massive favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Six of the ten starters that opted out for Washington State were on the defensive side of the ball. There are also a couple of other key contributors that opted out on defense in addition to the six starters. Washington State’s defense was not very good in the first place, ranking 97th in defensive EPA/play and 109th in defensive success rate per passing play. McCord should light up this secondary and try to put up some gaudy numbers in this bowl game. This is a very high number but McCord actually cleared this number in nine out of 12 games this season and he should do so again against this depleted Washington State defense.
