Seeing the former MVP active, especially given how the beginning of the season has gone for Embiid, is truly a Christmas miracle. The Process has struggled to find his rhythm this season due to inconsistent playing time and different injuries. He’s averaging 20.6 PPG, 6.8 RPG, and 4.1 APG in 28 minutes per game.
Just to twist the knife, Embiid is also 3-12 against the Celtics in playoff games in his career. He’s also averaging 26 PPG vs the Celtics in these playoff games while shooting 44% from the field. Tonight isn’t a playoff game, but we can extrapolate that Embiid has historically fared poorly again Boston.

But this version of Embiid is a far cry from that. Against a tough Celtics’ defense in this difficult matchup, I’m comfortable going Under. I anticipate it’ll take more games for Embiid to truly find his rhythm this season. The only games this season in which Embiid surpassed 30 points were against bottom feeder teams such as Chicago, Charlotte, and the banged-up Grizzlies.
Rebounds 8.5 (Over -110 / Under -120): Boston currently ranks 9th last in the league in opponent rebounds, which is a good sign for Embiid’s rebounding output tonight. Optimistically, Embiid looks comfortable out there and his knees, while fragile, seem good to go (knock on wood). He’s grabbed 8 or more boards in his past three games and I like his odds to replicate this effort tonight.
