Last week offered rare value on the Chiefs, as they were priced to play without Patrick Mahomes early in the week. It seems like we just cashed that ticket, and that’s because we did. With a quick four-day turnaround to a road game on a Wednesday, both of these teams are going to be asked to play on short rest and on a strange day on the football calendar. While it’s a unique schedule spot, Kansas City just continues to find ways to win.
You could say the same about the Steelers early on this season, but playing against high-level competition has caught up to them in recent weeks. Pittsburgh has lost its last two games, each by 14 or more points, playing in Philadelphia and Baltimore. While the Steelers at least get to return home here, I’m not sure that’ll be enough against this Kansas City defense.
Playing at home on Christmas can also be a distraction rather than an advantage. You have family in town, more asks from people, etc. Pittsburgh has had trouble finishing drives this season, but its still been able to squeak out some wins. Going against Kansas City is the type of spot where not finishing drives catches up to you. Mahomes and the Chiefs should remain locked in with their eyes on the top-seed in the AFC. I’ll back ’em to keep it rolling.
The Play: Chiefs ML (-142) – 1-unit
