The list of NBA players playing better than Nikola Jokic this season is incredibly short. The three-time MVP has desperately fought to keep the Denver Nuggets afloat this season with the supporting cast letting him down in a major way.
Denver holds a 14-11 record which currently puts them in sixth place in the Western Conference. While Jokic’s play speaks for itself, and he has climbed to the MVP favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook at +115 odds, he will need some help moving forward
The Nuggets have a great chance to add to their win total tonight as they face the injury-riddled New Orleans Pelicans.
The Nuggets enter this game as 10-point favorites and hold -440 odds on the Moneyline. The Pelicans hold +340 odds on the Moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook and the game total is set at 231.
Best Nikola Jokic Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Jokic’s props are listed at over/under 28.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 9.5 assists, 1.5 made three-pointers, and 51.5 combined points, rebounds & assists.
Nikola Jokic Over 28.5 Points (-125)
Through his first 22 games, Nikola Jokic is averaging 31.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game. He ranks second in the NBA in scoring, third in rebounding, and second in assists. This is the highest scoring output of his career, tied for his most assists, and his second-best rebounding output.
Looking at his scoring output, Jokic has recorded over 28.5 points in 12 of the 22 games. He has scored as many as 56 points in a game this season and has shown an increased willingness to serve as the driving force of the scoring production.
This will be the second matchup between the Pelicans and Nuggets. New Orleans produced a seven-point victory in the first matchup, but Jokic was not available for this game.
On the season overall, New Orleans ranks 24th in points allowed and 29th in opponents points in the paint. Rookie Yves Missi has stepped in as the primary starting center and has seen a much larger role than expected. Missi is an impressive athlete, but his eagerness should cause some problems against the offensive polish of Nikola Jokic. Daniel Theis is the lone other option as a true big man for the Pelicans.
Denver needs to capitalize on every opportunity for a win they can find in a loaded Western Conference. Nikola Jokic is well aware of this and will be in attack mode to ensure this is the case. He has had three days of rest leading into this game with Jokic dropping 34 points in his previous matchup. Look for him to assert himself early on against his youthful big-man matchup and for Jokic to eclipse 28.5 points for the 13th time this season.
