Fantasy Football Picks: Saints vs. Packers DraftKings Monday Night Football NFL DFS Showdown Strategy

I’ll be totally honest, I wish the rules for this week’s showdown contest between the Packers-Saints could be amended. It’s going to be TOUGH to find players you want to roster from them in this game. Alvin Kamara, out. Derek Carr, out. Chris Olave, out. Good lord.

We’ll do our best to navigate this slate but damn, let’s talk some Packers-Saints Showdown for Monday night.

Captain’s Picks

Josh Jacobs ($17,400): I don’t think we need to get cute here. The Packers are -14 favorites against the “B” squad for the Saints. Actually, this might be considered the “C” squad. Anyways, Jacobs will face a flimsy run defense with the Saints. On the season, they’ve allowed 4.9 YPC, 2.2 yards per carry before contact (third-highest in the league) and a 11.8% explosive run rate. Jacobs has been a beast lately, finding the end zone nine times in the last five games, giving him an average of 24.7 DKFP over that span. It’s a massive spot for him as the Packers likely won’t be facing much if any of a negative game script. With so many backups playing for the Saints, it won’t be hard to jam in the most expensive player on the slate.

FLEX Plays

Packers D/ST ($6,200): The Packers D/ST is my second click after locking in Jacobs. I’m spitballing here, but I don’t recall a D/ST being this expensive on a Showdown slate. I’m sure I’m wrong, but this is very pricey. I don’t care though, as we have a rookie quarterback who’ll have (presumably if he plays) Marquez Valdes-Scantling as his WR1. Rattler hasn’t been great down field either. In a small sample size, he’s completed just three of his 13 deep attempts. There isn’t much to say here, the Packers D/ST is a very strong play.

Juwan Johnson ($4,400): Johson should be one of the top targets for Rattler in this game. It’s not often we get someone who could see heavy volume at a $4,400 price tag. The matchup is also very good for Johnson. The Packers have allowed the seventh-most receiving yards and an average of 13.7 DKFP, the eight-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Johnson isn’t going to rack up 20+ DKFP on the day, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him make a handful of catches and possible reach the end zone. On a team that decimated by injury, Johnson at $4,400 is likely the safest play on the Saints.

Jordan Love ($10,600): It’s hard to nail down just whom Love is going to hone in on in a given week. The ball get spread around so much, its easier to simply soak up the yards with Love. Pairing him with Jacobs and the Packers D/ST almost ensures all the scoring equity amongst the three. While Love likely won’t be needed to throw the ball 25+ times, the matchup is at least a good one for him. The Saints have really struggled against the deep ball lately and Love has excelled with it. Love throws the deep ball a lot and has been great with it. On 60 attempts of 20+ yards, Love has completed 25 of them for 906 yards and six of his 23 passing touchdowns.
