UPDATE: 4:38 PM EST- When speaking to the media following the game, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans revealed that Dell will stay overnight in the hospital for further evaluation of the injury. It is considered a “significant knee injury.”
UPDATE: 4:08 PM EST- In addition to being ruled out for the game, Tank Dell was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center before the game concluded.
UPDATE: Tank Dell has been ruled out with what is officially being called a knee injury.
The streak of bad injury luck seems to have continued for Tank Dell. In the third quarter of the Texans vs. Chiefs, Dell suffered what seemed like a significant knee injury after making an impressive 30-yard touchdown reception.
Dell had six receptions for 98 yards along with the touchdown but immediately grabbed his knee in pain. Members of both teams gathered in prayer, and he was carted off the field.
This is another brutal situation for Dell and the Texans. The team is already without Stefon Diggs who suffered a torn ACL in Week 8. Nico Collins has also battled injuries this season and missed five games in the middle of the season.
If the injury is as severe as it seemed, this will mark the second consecutive year his season is cut short due to injury. Dell has been incredibly effective when he has been on the field, so the Texans will hope he can return sooner rather than later.
