NFL Best Bets: Derrick Henry prop bets against the Steelers

Old foes meet in Week 16 when the 9-5 Ravens host the 10-4 Steelers. In a game that could determine who wins the AFC North, expect hard hits, physical runs, and a terrific finish. Lamar Jackson and company love to run the ball, but T.J. Watt and the Steel Curtain might have other ideas. Baltimore enters the game as 6.5-point favorites, with the over/under set at 44.5 points.

Just when you thought the Ravens couldn’t get any better on offense, the team signed running back Derrick Henry to a two-year deal this offseason. Almost immediately, the four-time Pro Bowler has reminded everyone of his superstar status. Through 14 games, the King has rushed for 1474 yards and 13 touchdowns on 254 carries (5.8 YPC).

Henry has averaged only 89.0 yards from scrimmage over the past two weeks, down from a season-long mark of 114.2. During that stretch, he’s failed to reach the end zone. However, much of that has to do with game script, as the Ravens blew out the Giants last Sunday and got dismantled by the Eagles in Week 14. In a closer contest, as most Pittsburgh-Baltimore matchups tend to be, this 6’2″ running back could rumble his way to a big game.

The Steelers are no joke on the defensive line, holding opponents to 94.4 rushing yards per game, fourth-fewest in the NFL. However, when these two teams last met in Week 11, Henry was able to churn out 65 yards and a touchdown on just 13 carries (5.0 YPC). The fact that the back’s production came in a game that the Ravens lost shouldn’t go unnoticed. If Baltimore jumps out to an early lead, he should be in line for more touches this time around.

Even against a defense as tough as Pittsburgh’s, it’s not difficult to imagine Henry dominating out of the backfield. This season, the nine-year veteran has put together four outings with two or more scores. As good as the Steelers are, they only rank 15th in keeping running backs out of the end zone, surrendering 13 rushing touchdowns. Look for the Ravens to lean on their future Hall of Famer in a grinding Saturday night affair.

The Play: Derrick Henry to score 2+ touchdowns (+265)
