Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks vs. Memphis Grizzlies ($9,300) — This is never not the pick. It would be less worrisome if Young were healthy. Deal with it. It’s that time of the year. Load management is a thing. Every starter is beaten up or at least we will be told. The stars will carry injury tags every night moving forward. Is it gamesmanship? Are the injuries real? Who cares? Young plays a ton of minutes and carries a massive usage rate. What else is there in NBA DFS?

Grayson Allen, Phoenix Suns vs. Detroit Pistons ($5,000) — This is a massive slate. The value picks listed will likely fade by lock. That doesn’t mean they’re weak NBA DFS Value Picks. It makes them better picks. Allen can have a big night but will likely get lost in the sauce with 11 games going off. Devin Booker ($9,200) is out. Shots, assists and all-around work will get distributed among the Suns. Allen is capable of double-digit rebounds and his premier status as a three-point shooter always classifies the former Duke star as a tournament option.

Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics at Chicago Bulls ($10,300) — Revenge is a dish best served cold. Speaking of cold, the C’s were cold and lost to the Bulls on Dec. 19. Tatum wasn’t cold. He was pretty hot. He scored 56.5 DKFP and picked up a technical foul when the game got chippy in the fourth quarter. Most NBA games are just another game. This one has some spice. The Celtics could bring some extra seasoning to dinner. How do you like your beef? The Bulls are cooked and Tatum likes his steak well-done.

Devin Vassell, San Antonio Spurs vs. Portland Trail Blazers ($5,400) — The Spurs promoted Vassell to the starting lineup in their last game. They beat the red-hot Hawks 133-126 in overtime. Vassell played 38 minutes and scored 37 DKFP (7x return of value at $5,200). He’s scored over 30 DKFP in four of his last six games. Much of his production is owed to three-point shooting but that’s life in the NBA. That’s every player’s story. The difference is that Vassell is hitting them. The Spurs can’t afford to keep the hot hand off the court in the modern NBA. It’s a fight-fire-with-fire league. No one likes a likes copycat, but if your opponent makes more threes — you lose!

Karl-Anthony Towns, New York Knicks at New Orleans Pelicans ($10,400) — Is KAT the new face of the NBA? You bet. New York City is the mecca of basketball. It has a star and its star is shining. The NFL and college football are sucking all of the air out of the sports world. The NBA is shrinking into irrelevance. KAT can save the league. A grand conspiracy isn’t necessary. He doesn’t need special treatment because his coach doesn’t believe in special treatment. Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau is sadistic. He is a notorious old-school coach who plays his starters 40 minutes per night. KAT has scored over 55 DKFP in five consecutive contests with his best game of the season coming in his last outing — the Minnesota revenge game (72 DKFP).

Zach Edey, Memphis Grizzlies at Atlanta Hawks ($4,700) — It was uncertain how many minutes Edey would receive when returning from injury earlier this week. The Grizzlies did not hesitate to return the rookie to his regular role. Edey will never exceed 30 minutes this season. His upside will be limited but his abilities will create opportunities. A talented big man can be a microwave and pack a bunch of fantasy points into a small package of minutes. The Purdue legend is a point-per-dollar producer (1.2 FPPM). He scored 32.5 DKFP in his first game back from injury and followed with 26.5. If Ja Morant ($8,900) and other Grizzlies are out on Saturday, then Edey could receive more work on the offensive end of the floor.
