Stephen Curry Best Prop Bets for December 19

All of a sudden, the wheels have fallen off the bus for the Golden State Warriors. After getting off to a 12-3 start behind the strength of a 12-man rotation, Golden State has lost eight of its last 10 games and was desperate enough for improvement that it made the first major move of the NBA season, trading for Brooklyn Nets point guard Dennis Schroder.

Whether or not Schroder turns out to be a huge difference maker, the Warriors’ title chances start and end with Stephen Curry. The two-time MVP is averaging 23.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.7 assists this season on blistering 45-42-92 shooting splits. Golden State will travel to face the Memphis Grizzlies at 8 p.m. ET tonight.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Warriors (+114) are slight underdogs and the point total is set to 236.5, although both of those numbers might change if Memphis point guard Ja Morant, who’s questionable with back soreness. Below, I’ve highlighted my favorite prop bets centered around Curry.

Stephen Curry O24.5 Points (-105)

Tonight’s clash will be a high-paced, high-scoring game, as the Grizzlies rank second in the NBA in pace and Golden State is eighth. A fast-paced game should benefit the Warriors, who built a dynasty primarily around Curry’s unparalleled off-ball movement. In his advanced age, Curry doesn’t run quite as far during games as he did during his prime, but his fitness and precision should still give him an advantage in fast-paced games.

Memphis has a strong defense overall, with a 108.6 defensive rating that ranks sixth in the league. However, where the Grizzlies struggle is where Curry excels. Memphis allows 40.4 three-point attempts per game, the second-most in basketball, and 25.9 free throw attempts per game, which ranks third to last. In addition to being the league’s most prolific three-point shooter, Curry’s 91.0% career free throw percentage leads the NBA all time.

Stephen Curry O4.5 Three-Pointers Made (+100)

Curry has struggled with his shot a little bit as of late, draining five or more three-pointers in only three of his last 10 games. However, he will have a golden opportunity to get back on track tonight against a Grizzlies team that has allowed 24.3 wide open three-point attempts per game, defined as such when the nearest defender is at least six feet away. Unsurprisingly, Curry excels at wide open shots, hitting 53.1% of them so far this season.

To make matters better for Curry, Memphis reserve shooting guard Marcus Smart, the 2021-22 Defensive Player of the Year, is doubtful with left shoulder soreness. Opponents have shot 4.7% worse than expected on threes when guarded by Smart this season.
