If you’ve played an NBA slate as a DFS player or prop bettor, you know the deal with the NBA: The injuries are everything. A minute here or there can be the difference between good chalk and bad chalk, quality value or lineup-ruining value, or an over/under winning or losing by the hook.
Every day we have dozens of players marked as questionable up until game time with their statuses often impacting the edges or microedges you can have. A couple of times each week here on DraftKings Network, I’ll bring you the latest news and information on a few of the players who seem most noteworthy in Unabated’s Conditional Projections.
The Unabated NBA team, led by industry veteran Justin Phan, currently projects Raptors star Scottie Barnes to have a 50% chance to play. Barnes has missed multiple games with an ankle sprain that currently has him questionable on the day’s NBA Injury Report.
Barnes has been one of the best players in fantasy when he’s active. He wields a 27.7% usage rate, 13.8% rebound rate and 35% assist rate while putting up 1.3 DraftKings Points Per Minute. With Immanuel Quickley still out and Jakob Poeltl sidelined, there are a ton of possessions and points to go around if Barnes joins them on the sideline tonight. In an expected competitive game — Toronto is favored by four points at home versus a hapless Nets team — Barnes’ status is one of the keys on the slate.
If Barnes plays, he projects for 19.8 points, 8.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists. He’d likely be a tournament option without a ton of ownership on tonight’s DraftKings slate.
If Barnes sits, he’ll open up many remaining Toronto Raptors as potentially key value on tonight’s slate. Here’s how some of his key Raptors teammates will project if Barnes sits:
- RJ Barrett projects for 26.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 6.9 assists (25 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists if Barnes plays)
- Gradey Dick projects for 18.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists (17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists if Barnes plays)
- Ochai Agbaji projects for 9.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists (8.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists if Barnes plays)
- Jonathan Mogbo projects for 10.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists (8.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists if Barnes plays)
Due to Barnes’ uncertainty, the Raptors don’t have any available betting markets on DraftKings Sportsbook. If Barnes ends up out today, there will likely be huge Expected Value for Raptors overs on prop bets for the above players and much more opportunity on tonight’s DraftKings NBA DFS slates, as well.
