The Bucks completed an impressive NBA Cup title run, with MVP-caliber production from Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the way. However, despite the loss, the Thunder achieved impressive victories over Western Conference contenders like the Mavericks and Rockets.
Much of the top of both conferences remain similar to how it’s been recently. However, Kevin Durant’s return should benefit the Suns significantly. Kawhi Leonard appears to be trending closer to his season debut but will still miss the Clippers’ next three games.
The Grizzlies and Celtics have impressive 8-2 records over their previous 10 games, making them two of the league’s hottest teams. The Atlanta Hawks are also on a roll despite losing to the Bucks in the NBA Cup semifinals.
After passing Dec. 15 when recently signed players who switched teams in the offseason can be traded, there’s already been some activity. The Warriors made a midseason trade to acquire Dennis Schroder from the Nets, while the Nuggets are still looking on the trade block. Additionally, Jimmy Butler’s future with the Heat has become a hot topic as the trade deadline approaches.
