Jaylen Waddle ($5,600) exited last Sunday’s loss to the Texans with a knee injury and didn’t practice all week ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the 49ers. He’s officially listed as doubtful for Week 16. With the Dolphins sitting at 5-8 and basically eliminated from playoff contention, Waddle being out this weekend feels likely. To make matters worse, Tyreek Hill ($6,900) also popped up on the injury report Friday. He’s questionable with his lingering wrist issue.
Waddle seems very likely to be inactive, while Hill has played through this exact designation a few times in 2024. Malik Washington ($3,700) should operate as at least Miami’s No. 2 wideout. With Waddle only available for 38% of the snaps in Week 15, Washington caught five of his six targets for 52 yards vs. Houston.
The 23-year-old saw a 15.4% target share, and he ran a route on 70% of his team’s dropbacks, both of which set season highs for Washington. Notably, 54.5% of his routes came from the slot in this contest.
This is a great role relative to Washington’s cheap salary. He will be a viable punt play for all formats if Waddle sits this Sunday, regardless of this being a less than ideal matchup vs. San Francisco. The 49ers are giving up the fourth-fewest yards per pass this season (6.1), but in an even tougher spot vs. the Texans this past Sunday, who are allowing the second-fewest yards per pass (5.9), Washington finished with 10.2 FPTS, despite Waddle being available for almost half of this tilt.
Another double-digit FPTS performance would be a realistic expectation for Washington if Waddle is inactive. Washington would be one of the best receiver values on the board for Sunday’s if Waddle and Hill are sidelined.
