Kenneth Walker III ($6,300) has missed back-to-back games with a calf injury. However, Seahawks head coach Mike MacDonald said the team was “optimistic” Walker would be able to return in Week 16 and it turns out MacDonald was telling the truth. Walker does not carry an injury designation against Minnesota.
Still, that doesn’t mean Walker will see his usual workload in his return. In his 10 games this season, Walker is averaging 14.5 carries per game, including 19 red-zone rushes, while logging 64% of the snaps. The back has also seen great usage as a receiver, with a 13.2% target share, including eight red-zone targets.
The problem is, Walker very well could be limited, and Zach Charbonnet ($6,000) has been great in Walker’s absence, likely making this backfield more of an even timeshare going forward. In the four starts Charbonnet has made with Walker inactive this season, the former has produced 108.8 scrimmage yards per game and six touchdowns.
Given these factors of Walker coming off an injury and Charbonnet’s effectiveness, Walker will likely see a decreased role of 10-15 touches on Sunday. While his upside will be lower than usual, Walker is still a viable fantasy starter given his great efficiency, with him generating 0.93 FPTS per touch this season, which ranks 13th among running backs.
