The Crypto.com Showdown Preview
The match will be 18 holes, but split up into three parts:
Holes 1-6, Fourballs: Each golfer will play their own ball and the lowest score from each team will be counted.
Holes 7-12, Foursomes (alternate shot): The golfers will take turns hitting their teammates’ ball from its previous spot until the ball is holed.
Holes 13-18, Singles: The golfers will play singles matchups against each other.
The unique wrinkle to this event is that the winning team will be paid out in cryptocurrency, which based on the sponsor should not be a surprise. It has been reported by Front Office Sports that the purse will be minimum of $10 million.
Only at golf’s four major championships do we see all of the world’s best golfers on both tours competing against each other, so this match will be a good litmus test to see if LIV’s best can hold up against the cream of the crop on the PGA TOUR.
