It’s easy to forget that just a few months ago, the New York Jets were getting plenty of positive buzz. After a historically bad offensive season that led them to finish dead last in EPA, there was only room for growth. Any concerns about 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers coming off Achilles surgery and playing behind a makeshift offensive line were consistently overlooked, in large part due to the superstar in the backfield.
Even alongside a collection of putrid signal-callers early in his career, Breece Hall still managed to be a budding superstar. The Iowa State product flashed the ideal blend of power and speed for a modern rusher and was one of the lone bright spots for this woeful franchise.
The upgrade at quarterback was supposed to help elevate an already productive Hall, which led to him getting drafted at the top end of the first round in fantasy drafts. Like nearly everything this year for New York, Hall’s emergence didn’t go as planned, and he’s actually regressed across the board.
Don’t Let Perception Cloud Breece Hall’s Production
This organization has had so many pitfuls recently that Hall, taking a step back, has managed to escape the headlines. With the injection of talent, the passing game has jumped 13 spots, which is not enough of an improvement but at least a reason to have a sliver of optimism to point to in the off-season. The rushing attack has only climbed five spots, which is inexcusable given the circumstances.
Hall is averaging a measly 4.2 yards per carry, his lowest yards per game overall. Despite seeing a slight uptick in attempts, he’s surpassed the century mark on the ground just once this campaign. His main issue is his inability to create something out of nothing, having over 100 fewer yards than expected this year, according to Next Gen Stats.
Fade Breece Hall
Hall is in one of the worst fantasy stretches of his career, only surpassing 15 points once in his last six outings in PPR. With Rodgers starting to sling the ball a bit better, his workload has taken a bit of a dip, and his inefficiency in the red zone has only worsened matters.
At this point in the calendar, there’s no reason to be attached to a high-draft pick. Hall has been passed in performance by the likes of James Conner and Chuba Hubbard and is a low-end RB2 at best.
New York has a date with a Los Angeles team that is starting to peak at the right time and is beginning to shut down opposing run games. Hall has taken a back seat to the aerial attack, and his poor form presents a less-than-ideal matchup. He is a deep-flex player in standard leagues, and you should avoid him at all costs in DFS.
