Top Fantasy Football Sleepers
RB Tank Bigsby, Jacksonville Jaguars ($5,100)
Few players have disappointed more than Travis Etienne ($5,600). The former first-round pick hasn’t gotten anything going so far, battling injures and underperformance en route to a RB37 ranking this season. The 3-10 Jaguars, a team with nothing left to play for, have mixed things up on offense recently. That includes more handoffs for running back Tank Bigsby. The former Auburn Tiger impressed last week against the Titans, running the ball 18 times for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Although Etienne is still a threat to steal some touches, control of this backfield is shifting. The Jets are one of the NFL’s better run defenses, giving up the fifth-fewest yards per carry (4.0 YPC). Still, an offense led by Mac Jones ($4,900) is far more likely to keep the ball on the ground. That’s where a bruising back like Bigsby comes in. Having already rushed for five touchdowns this season, the second-year pro could deliver plenty of value if he reaches the end zone once more on Sunday.
WR Josh Palmer, Los Angeles Chargers ($4,600)
The status of wide receiver Ladd McConkey ($6,300) is up in the air, as the rookie is battling shoulder and knee injuries. If the Georgia product can’t play this weekend, the Chargers will have to get creative on offense. Quarterback Justin Herbert ($5,900) doesn’t have the best set of weapons to throw to, but he does have some familiarity with Josh Palmer. The four-year veteran isn’t the most consistent, but he’s always good for a few ‘boom’ games each season. That includes last Sunday night’s six-catch, 78-yard outing against the Chiefs.
Week 15’s matchup is promising for the Chargers, as the Buccaneers are giving up the third-most passing yards to opponents this season (253.4 YPG). Considering how limited Los Angeles’ run game has been without J.K. Dobbins, expect plenty of passes from Herbert. Therefore, whichever receivers are healthy should stand to benefit from facing such a weak Tampa Bay secondary. There could be some value for Palmer even if McConkey plays, especially at a reduced price, making the deep threat a high-upside play.
RB Kendre Miller, New Orleans Saints ($4,500)
Alvin Kamara ($7,700) is good to go for this week’s game vs. the Commanders. The Pro Bowler had missed multiple practices while battling an illness, so it remains to be seen if he’ll be at 100%. The 5-8 Saints have little left to play for, especially with backup quarterback Jake Haener ($5,100) filling in for Derek Carr. That makes it difficult to imagine New Orleans giving their veteran running back a massive workload, especially if this one turns into a blowout. If not Kamara, who, if anyone, might stand to benefit out of the backfield?
Enter Kendre Miller. The former third-round pick hasn’t done much over two seasons in the NFL, rushing for a total of 240 yards and two touchdowns over 11 games. However, on a team that should be looking towards the future, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the 22-year-old get fed against Washington. Last Sunday against the Giants, Miller had ten carries for 32 yards and a touchdown, so it appears that the Saints are already attempting to feature the TCU product. Even if this game gets out of hand, there’s plenty to like about the speedster in deeper, RB-desperate leagues.
